This weekend workshop will teach you how to skin fish and stitch fishskins.
A $15 packet will be available for your purchase; it will have a skinning knife, sinew and needles.
You will need to bring:
•A strong cutting board, at least 15” long,
ulu, exacto knife or scalpel knife, several bandaids,
heavy-duty shears for clipping fins and tails,
an apron, hat gear and bug dope.
•Two similar sized fish, not too big, not too small, about 15” in length. They can be salmon (the best to work with), rockfish, eel, etc. and best if they have been frozen and not gutted.
•You will also need to bring a cooler and storage wrap for the meat after the fish has been skinned.
Across the Bay Tent & Breakfast has a freezer to keep the meat until it’s time for you to return home. You may call the Tent and Breakfast a week in advance if you would like to purchase your fish from the local fisherperson.
Additional uncleaned skins will be available at $5 each.
The per person fee of $380 plus tax includes water taxi transportation from Homer, meals, accommodations and instruction. A $25 non-refundable deposit is due at registration; the balance of the fee is due by
