Watercolor Landscape: Tips & Techniques

Mark McDermott will share his love of the landscape, watercolor, and 30

years of experience painting Alaska's wild places. Mark is a full time

painter and photographer from Anchorage, Alaska who has won numerous awards, including 2005 and 2006 "Top 100" in the prestigious international competition Arts for the Parks. He shows his work at Stephan Fine Arts Gallery in Anchorage.

Details

This watercolor class is designed for the beginning to intermediate student who has some painting experience but would like to take their technique to the next level. It will not be a step by step instruction on how to paint a final work; however, I will share my preferred work flow and process. Rather this will be a distillation of useful techniques that I have learned over the last 30 years of painting.

Weather permitting we will take advantage of the beautiful Kasitsna Bay

scenery and paint plein air part of the time. Materials List and further

information will be supplied upon registration.

The workshop runs from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. The per/ person fee is $390 plus tax and includes all instruction, round trip water taxi transportation from Homer, home-cooked meals, and lodging.

Space for our popular watercolor workshops always fill up fast so make your

reservations as soon as possible. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due at

registration and the final payment due by August 7th.

Participants may add an extra day to the beginning or end of the workshop

to take a sea kayak trip, go mountain biking or arrange a halibut fishing

charter. Additional charges will apply.
