Have you ever wondered how Alaskans can live more sustainably way up here in the North? Are you interested in reducing your monthly expenses, growing and eating your own healthy, organic food, or solving issues you have with your site? Join Matt Oster and Saskia Esslinger for a fun hands-on weekend workshop where you learn how to use Permaculture design principles to help you do all this and more.
In this workshop, we will walk you through a thorough site analysis and assessment and talk about possible design solutions. Then we will implement some of the design solutions the group comes up with.
Specific topics we will address include:
• micro-energy projects
• greenhouse location and design
• chickens
• water issues
• building gardens and garden soil
• windbreaks
• perennial food plantings
Matt Oster and Saskia Esslinger have been studying and practicing Permaculture design for 5 years, and are actively transforming their Anchorage home into a Permaculture paradise. They are co-owners of Red Edge Design LLC. For more details, please e-mail them at rededgedesignllc@gmail.com
DETAILS
$390/per person + tax includes 2 nights accommodation, healthy home-cooked meals, water taxi to/from Homer and daily workshops.
The workshop runs from Friday evening August 27th until Sunday mid afternoon August 29th. The per person fee, $390.00 plus tax, includes round trip water taxi transportation, meals and lodging. We accept Visa and Mastercard. At registration you will be sent a list of items to bring with you, water taxi information and an instructors materials list.
Additional materials fees may apply.
Workshop participant minimum 6 people. If minimum is not met, a full refund will be given.
Your stay at Across The Bay Tent And Breakfast Adventure Company can be extended on either end for sea kayaking or other adventures for additional fees.
